I was born in Moro, Sindh, Pakistan (according to my parents), spent my childhood bouncing between Moro and Hyderabad (again, according to my parents), and then settled in Karachi. My childhood is defined by the word 'philosophy' or 'philosopher,' which is the main reason I'm in philosophy (it's a long and interesting story). My early education can only be described as sporadic, as I attended government, private, and trust-governed schools; however, my education after college was fairly consistent and has only one institution as a descriptor and that is the University of Karachi, probably one of the very few universities offering philosophy programs in Pakistan. My twenties are defined by my government job as a senior observer at the Pakistan Meteorological Department which means I know some things about bureaucratic institutions in Pakistan.

I have a B.S., and an M.Phil., in philosophy, and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in philosophy. My research interests are situated at the crossroads of feminist philosophy and metaphysics. I love (yes love) to do feminist philosophy with a flavor of metaphysics and philosophy of science, and I am personally and deeply interested in exploring the question: what is a woman? Am I a woman because I use the pronouns, she/her/hers, or am I not a woman because you cannot tell by zooming in on my profile picture in a home section? I am also interested in doing legal, ethical, political, and cognitive philosophy.

When I'm not doing philosophy (hardcore academic philosophy), I'm trying to learn to play the guitar or reading fiction (genre is a secret) and wondering if I'm really not doing philosophy, which means I'm always up for a philosophical jam session.
